Audi drivers can expect to pay less for their car insurance than owners of other premium German brands, research has revealed.
The Association of British Insurers, the ABI, has found Audis cheaper to insure than competing models in virtually every range.
Officials generated the data based on research by the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre in Thatcham, which maintains a database that is updated with new information on trim levels, variants, body styles and engine types every month.
The ratings are defined using a points system which takes purchase price, the cost of key parts and the ease of repair when things go wrong into account.
The higher the outright price of purchase or parts and labour charges, and the more costly and labour intensive the crash repair, the higher the points tally.
Audi models posted consistently low scores in the tests, outperforming virtually ever other car in the sector.
