A red replica Ferrari driven around by Matthew Broderick in the cult teen movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off has sold for nearly £80,000 at auction.
The collector who bought the replica 250GT Spyder California for double its estimated price is now likely to be looking for the cheapest car insurance available.
The "ready-to-drive" car, which was expected to fetch between £30,000 to £40,000 went for an impressive £79,600, including buyer's premium, at Bonhams Collectors' Motor Cars and Automobilia auction at the RAF Museum in Hendon, north London.
It was created for the 1986 classic movie which follows a teenager who bunks off from school to have a day of fun with his friends in a borrowed car. The movie was a hit and grossed 70 million dollars in the United States.
Paramount commissioned the replica for filming because the existing models were too "rare and expensive".
Ferrari built only 100 original 250GT Spyder Californias between 1958 and 1963.
