Gavin and Stacey's Joanna Page says her husband got her confused with her on-screen character after a car accident.
James Thornton, also an actor, called the actress after he was hit by a car in London and when she arrived he was in such a state of shock that he asked if she was "that Stacey on the telly" and told her "I'm on the telly too, I'm in Emmerdale".
Thornton, who plays John Barton in Emmerdale, fractured his knee and was taken to hospital in an ambulance.
The incident reminds drivers to keep car insurance details safe in case they are dazed and confused after a bump.
The actress said: "He got run over about eight weeks ago, round the corner from where we live. I got this phone call from him saying 'Hi it's me, I've just been run over, they are calling an ambulance. I'm all right but can you come down and see me?'
"So I just ran straight out of the house and he was in the ambulance.
"He'd broken his leg and was shaking a lot because of the shock and he said to me 'Ooh where are you from? You're not from Barry are you like that Stacey on the telly?'
The Stacey character famously comes from Barry Island in south Wales.
Page went on: "I had to explain that it was actually me. James was in shock with a broken leg lying on his back and this block around his head because they thought he might've broken his neck and he still managed to say 'I'm on the telly too, I'm in Emmerdale!'"
