Cover start date

The cover start date is the date from which your esure policy will start, and the date from which you will be covered. This date cannot be more than 30 days from today's date.

You must tell us about any loss or damage caused by flood from an outside source. This includes, but is not limited to, flooding from streams, rivers, lakes, the sea, watercourses or heavy rainfall. It does not include an escape of water from inside the property, such as a burst pipe.

You must give us accurate and complete information. If you don’t, it could result in a claim being rejected or reduced, additional terms applied, or your policy being cancelled or voided.

You must tell us about any ground movement that has resulted in Subsidence, Heave or Landslip. Subsidence is the downward movement or shrinking of the ground, Heave is upward ground movement and landslip is the falling away of the ground, all of which cause your property to move and suffer structural damage. In addition, you must also tell us about any significant cracking that may be occurring or has occurred. You must also tell us if your property has been underpinned.

Home claims, loss or damage or claims made against you in the last 3 years

You must tell us if you, or anyone living with you, have made any household claims in the last 3 years or had any claims made against you. This includes incidents that were not insured, that weren’t pursued or where the claim was turned down.

You must tell us about all claims and losses or those made against you, regardless of the address you were living at, at the time.

You must give us accurate and complete information. If you don’t, it could result in a claim being rejected or reduced, additional terms applied, or your policy being cancelled or voided.

Confirmations of Quote Assumptions

Please read the following statements, carefully:

We are able to provide you with a quote if you have exchanged contracts, have an agreed completion date and will move in within the next 30 days.

The home for which insurance is proposed:

  • is my main residence
  • is built of brick, stone or concrete
  • has a roof built of slate, tile, asphalt or concrete
  • is self contained having its own separate lockable front door
  • is occupied solely by me, my family permanently living with me, or any joint named policyholder as permanent residence
  • is used as a private residence with no business use (other than clerical use with no business visitors)
  • is in a good state of repair and will be maintained in this state
  • is not occupied as a holiday home
  • is not regularly unoccupied throughout the night
  • is not unoccupied for a period in excess of 30 consecutive days

 

I or any member of my family, civil partner, cohabitee or any joint named policyholder living permanently with me in the home, have not:

  • had home insurance cancelled, refused or renewal refused
  • been asked to pay an increased premium (other than normal rating increases) or asked to accept any special conditions or had any special terms imposed
  • been convicted of any criminal offence (other than motoring convictions) or have any prosecution or police enquiry pending (any convictions spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 do not need to be disclosed). (click here to confirm if you need to disclose)
  • received a police caution in connection with an insurance policy/claim

I understand that if any of the statements do not accurately reflect my, members of my family, civil partner, cohabitee or any joint named policyholder’s circumstances, it could result my claim being reduced, rejected, additional terms applied or my policy voided.
