Kia Picanto Insurance Groups
The Kia Picanto is designed to be a vehicle for urban use. Its five-door configuration and a compact size is well suited to narrow city roads. It comes with a choice of petrol engines that range from 1.0-litre to 1.25-litre in size, which helps to keep the Kia in the lower end of insurance groups.
The Picanto has three different trim levels. Depending on the trim level you have, you can get features like air conditioning, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, and alloy wheels. All the trim levels also include practical safety features like airbags, ESP traction and stability control, helping to keep the Picanto in lower insurance groups. Remember that higher trim levels may affect the cost of your Kia car insurance.

Kia Sportage Insurance Groups
Kia’s small SUV, the Sportage, has been around for the past two decades. It comes with engine sizes ranging from 1.6-litre to 2.7-litre, which pushes it towards the middle range of insurance groups.
The Sportage comes with front-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox as standard, and is available with five different trim levels. The trim levels give you access to cosmetic features like premium upholstery and increased technical specifications.
It’s worth keeping in mind that if you have chosen a high trim level it may put your car into higher insurance groups, which affects your Kia car insurance quote.

About Kia
Early Beginnings
Originally a steel tubing and bicycle parts manufacturer, Kia was founded in 1944 as Kyunsung Precision Industry – the company who would later go on to produce Korea’s first domestic bicycle. They changed the name in 1952 to Kia Industries, moving on to build motorcycles and eventually cars.
Kia opened its first assembly plant in 1973 at the Sohari Plant, swiftly starting production on small range cars. The company stopped making cars in 1981 due to a shift in the country’s politics with regards to the automotive industry. By 1986 the company re-joined the automotive industry and produced 95,000 cars the following year.
First Car
Kia’s First car was the Pride. Released in 1987, the Kia Pride started exporting to Japan and the Unites States in the same year. Originally a sedan that came in multiple door ranges, the Kia Pride got a revamp in 1993, and was later replaced by the Rio in 2000.
Present Day
Now headquartered in Seoul, Kia has become the second largest automobile manufacturer after Hyundai Motor Company. Hyundai owns 33.33% of Kia Motors, and Kia sold 3.3 million cars in 2015.
Focusing primarily on the European and US markets since 2005, Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia opened in 2010.
